Emma Bemma Turns 7!

Emmas birthday is today and she is just our sweet, loving and helpful child. She is always willing to do whatever is needed to be done. Emma is almost done with 1st grade and she is really looking forward to 2nd grade. Her reading has really taken off this year and unlike her mom, she is going to be great at math!

Emma is a spitting image of her dad! She has his sense of humor and is always trying to make us laugh. She likes to call everyone 'losers', even though I can't stand it. She doesn't find it in anyway a put down, she thinks its funny and that everyone should laugh she she says it. She is our social butterfly always making plans for playdates.

This past year she has really started to love reading the scriptures and enjoys learning Bible
and Book of Mormon stories.

The next photos will show you a little about Emmas personality.

We love you Emma and our family just wouldn't be the same without you!

Memorial Day Weekend

Our weekend started with a wedding on Saturday. This was not just any wedding, this was the wedding of Ray and Laurel! Two dear friends of ours who we are so happy for. Ray is a co-worker of Dons and started asking questions about the Church a year and half ago while they were in training together. It started something like this..."Tell me about those magic underwear." Don took full advantage of that and continued to slowly talk to Ray about the Gospel. Don stays 1 night a week away from home in Winchester, VA which is 1/1/2 hours away from our house, but is where Ray lives. When Don stays in Winchester, he goes to dinner with Ray. One night as they were leaving dinner and heading to their individual cars, Don asked Ray if he had watched the Restoration DVD yet. He said he had not, so Don suggested he come over and watch it. While they were watching the DVD the doorbell rang and you will never guess who it was...the missionaries!! Coincendence, I think not!

Ray was baptized last November and has been the model convert that every Bishop prayers for. Shortly after, I ran into an old friend(Laurel) who has been through alot in the last 3 years. Her husband told her toward the end of her 4th pregnancy that he had never loved her and had reconnected with an old girlfriend through MySpace and was leaving her!! 2 months after she had her baby, he left and divorced her. Jerk! After talking with her, I began to think that I should introduce the two of them. Ray is 40 years old and has never been married and really loves kids and is great with kids. She is 37 and I really felt they would be great for each other. They went on their first date in January to a "Why I Believe Fireside" at the Washington DC Temple. He even stood up and bore his testimony! The rest is history and they were married Saturday on a 200 year old farm in Virginia and the setting was beautiful!

Laurel came down those stairs of the old farm house and her kids met her at the bottom, it was so sweet!

Ray could not stop smiling! And when the Bishop was reciting the vows for Ray to repeat, he just kept nodding his head, like he was soooo ready to say yes! It was just beautiful. They will sealed to one another in November, on his 1 year anniversary of his baptism.

On Sunday we headed to the river lot that Dons family has along the Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, WV. The kids always have alot of fun and we really enjoy hanging out with family and fishing.

Don took all of these pictures and he has become quite the photographer. We stayed the night at the river Sunday and headed home on Monday. We were so exhausted from our weekend that we didn't do anything but hang out at home on Monday. It was nice to have a day to relax before going back to school and work. I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend too!

I Never Thought I Would Do This...

...Have a pet! 2 that is!

A new family moved into our Ward and they invited us over for dinner. When we got there they offered up a couple of 8 week old kittens! I think they had an alterior motive in their dinner invitation, what do you think?? Anyway, we came home with 2 kittens(female) and I really have no idea what to do for them??? Do I need to take them to the vet? Can I feed them wet food or just stick with dry food? When they fight are they just playing or should I be concerned that the bigger one is hurting the runt?

Sally's Dance Recital 2010

We survived our first dance recital! Both girls did tap numbers and we had 1 night of dress rehearsal and 2 nights for the recital. They enjoyed getting flowers from their dad and especially enjoyed getting to put on lots of makeup and get their hair done up. They looked soooo cute!

The girls did a wonderful job and I was so proud of them for having the desire to get up on stage and perform what they have been working on all year! Neither of them had any regrets, remorse, or stage fright, it was great! I wanted to post the video of both of their performances but after waiting 45 mintues and it still hadn't finished loading, I changed my mind. I hope you enjoy some pictures of the girls in their costumes before their recital.

Great Job Leah and Emma, we are so proud of you!

A Visit with Family!

So this is long overdue, but after my family left I had to recover for 3 weeks. Also, Don has been home since he had surgery and I was too busy hanging out with him.

So back on March 11th my sister Sarah from Germany arrived at our house with her two youngest girls, Samantha and Natalie. The next day my sister Megan arrived from Utah with her husband Ben and her two kids, Tafton and Mikaela. The next day my sister Jessica from North Carolina came with her family. I was so excited to have everyone come and we had such a good time. While the weather wasn't wonderful, we still managed to do what sisters do best, shop! I think my sister Sarah out shopped us all. She lives in Germany and really misses Target, Walmart, the Outlets, etc. I thinked she mailed 2 big boxes back full of stuff and had to buy another suitcase to fit the rest of her things in!

Everyone arrived with one thing in common, their laptops! I thought this was a funny picture that everyone was on vacation but on their laptops.

On Sunday we headed to the train station in Cumberland. The train station seems to be the place we take people when they come to visit. It seems like we have taken this picture about 5 times, all with different combinations of kids/grandkids.

On Monday we headed to Slinky Action Zone in Altoona, Pa. It was a rainy day and it was the perfect get away. One funny thing to me, probably not for Ben Passey, was that I drove with Sarah and we were leading the way, followed by Ben driving my van and Jessica and Erik in the rear. We had the GPS set and we were getting so excited when we would shave off a minute to our arrival time. Does anyone else do that? Anyway, we weren't paying attention to how fast we were going, but we flew by a state trooper and thought for sure we were going to get pulled over. No we didn't, but Ben did, in my van! We were sort of laughing, sort of feeling bad. Erik said he was going 80 and couldn't catch up with us, oops! Sarah and I felt so bad that we ended up splitting the price of the ticket for Ben.

When we got to Slinky Action Zone is was half price Mondays, so I was able to get all of my kids in for $8. Also we were able to play laser tag for half price. There was 6 of them and they only paid $15 and then the four oldest cousins did bumber cars for $5. It was really a great deal and a great deal of fun! haha

Samantha going down the slide

Oh, I almost forgot, I asked Jessica to make dinner Sunday night. She is an awesome cook and I knew should would whip up something delicious. She made a chicken breast stuffed with stove top stuffing and a mushroom and rosemary gravy, steamed broccoli and this dessert that was just to dye for. I don't even know what it was called, something like a beesting cake. If your interested I will try and get the recipe from her.

Monday night we got a babysitter for all the kids and headed to the local Japanese Steak House. We had a blast! I got a great picture of Erik catching a piece of chicken in his mouth. Look closely

We got Sarah to try shrimp for the first time in her life! I don't think she liked it very much!

Look at Megans face, she looks like she is worried about Sarah

I just love this picture of Don and I!

Finally, a cute picture of my niece Mickaela. I had never met her until this visit and she is a complete doll.

Thanks all for coming and making the sacrafices you did to visit. I can't wait to see you all again soon! Love you all!

This is how I spent my Saturday!

So for the 5 years we have lived in our house, we have had blah walls in our bedroom. Every other room in the house was painted and decorated to our tastes. I never could figure out what color to put on the walls, or if I should change our comforter(I have done that several times). So I found a great website where you can upload a picture of the room you want to paint, then you pick different colors for the wall and it shows you what it will look like in your room! So fun. The website is http://www.sherwinwilliams.com/ Check it out. The color I picked was a little darker than I was looking for, but I think it turned out pretty good.
